The BMS Retail Group story
The BMS Retail Group was formed in 2004 when three local retailers joined forces to create the Champions IGA supermarket banner.
The company originally started with three sites, Long Gully, Bacchus Marsh (Darley), and Kangaroo Flat. Since then, the company has acquired three existing supermarkets including, Heathcote, Grovedale Central, and Whittlesea as well as two brand new stores built in Inglewood and Grovedale East which all trade under the Champions IGA banner.
The Champions IGA Group is an independent company based in Bendigo, Victoria that focuses on supporting the local community. Champions support the Bendigo Xmas Hospital Appeal, various local sporting clubs, and organisations which include the Bendigo Braves - Women. This clearly demonstrates our commitment to supporting local organisations.
We also continue to build relationships with local suppliers and manufacturers such as Hazeldenes Chickens, KR Castlemaine, Pauls Milk/Parmalat, and Tip Top Bakeries.
The Champions Group employs local people, and with over 500 staff strives to help the community by supporting its local people.

Champions currently have 12 supermarkets located conveniently across Victoria.
The stores range from large-scale Champions Fresh Market locations which provide a full-ranged shopping experience, to our local Champions IGA Supermarkets which include a regional range of products and services tailored for their communities.
Champions IGA supermarkets are conveniently located with parking available at the front door and with extended trading hours to support your additional shopping requirements.
The team at Champions is dedicated to providing our customers with a level of service second to none and is keen to assist you with any over and above requirements.
All stores are run by local people who are heavily involved in their local community and continue to provide their time and services to assist with sporting and community groups.
